Altiplano de Sierra Nevada Vino de la Tierra / I.G.P.

In order to establish the geographical indication Granada for exclusive use in wines protected under the Vino de Calidad de Granada designation, in 2009 the VT Norte de Granada was renamed Altiplano de Sierra Nevada. The geographical indication covers 43 towns in the north of the province. The grape varieties authorised for the production of these wines under this certification are chardonnay, baladí verdejo, airen, torrontés, palomino, Pedro Ximénez, macabeo and sauvignon blanc in whites, and tempranillo, monastrell, garnacha tinta, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, merlot, and syrah in reds.
