DESCRIPTION
Bordering La Rioja is Catamarca, another of the provinces that form part of the western wine region of Argentina, and which also borders the Andes Mountains.

PREDOMINANT VARIETIES
Whites: torrontés.
Reds: cabernet sauvignon, malbec, syrah and bonarda.
CLIMATE AND SOILS
Warm climate, almost desert-like, with sandy loam soils.
PRODUCTION AREAS
Most of the vineyards are concentrated in the department of Tinogasta, mainly white varieties, although Santa María and Belén also stand out.
