DESCRIPTION
It is bordered to the north by the United States, specifically by the states of New Mexico and Texas. To the east it borders the Mexican state of Coahuila, to the south with Durango and Sinaloa, and to the west with Sonora.

PREDOMINANT VARIETIES
Reds: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo, Cabernet Franc, Malbec.
Whites: chardonnay, gewürztraminer, white malvasia, riesling.
CLIMATE AND SOILS
This is the largest state in Mexico, and its territory has three large zones with a strong contrast between them: Sierra, Plains and Desert.
PRODUCTION ZONES
There are currently 33 winegrowing projects distributed among vineyards and wineries in 13 municipalities; the main one is the municipality of Chihuahua, followed by Guerrero, Aldama, Bachiniva, Cuauhtémoc, Delicias, Hidalgo del Parral, Namiquipa, Riva Palacio, Santa Barbara, Santa Isabel, Satevó and Villa Ahumada, and the experimental vineyard of the Centro de Investigación para los Recursos Naturales (CIRENA) in the municipality of López.
