Artesa de Segre: located at the foot of the Montsec mountain range, to the north of the Noguera region, it has calcareous soils.
Urgell: located in the central part of the province of Lleida, at an average altitude of 350 meters above sea level. The predominant climate is Mediterranean-continental.
Garrigues: in the southeast of the province of Lleida. It is an area of complex orography, settled on loamy soils. It has an altitude of about 700 meters above sea level.
Pallars: this is the northernmost subzone, located in the Pyrenees. Its soil is predominantly calcareous loam and its climate is of the Mediterranean-continental type.
Raimat: located in Lleida, it is characterized by predominantly calcareous soils and a Mediterranean climate with cold winters and hot summers.
Segriá: this is the central subzone of the wine region. It has calcareous soils.
Valls del Riu Corb: located in the southeast of the Denomination of Origin. The climate is Mediterranean-continental, softened by the wind coming from the sea (the marinade). It is also subject to the influence of "el Seré", a fresh and dry inland wind.

CLIMATE

Fairly dry continental in all subzones, with minimum temperatures often below zero in winter. Summers with maximum temperatures sometimes exceeding 35 degrees Celsius. Rainfall rates are quite low: 385 mm/year in Lleida and 450 mm/year in the rest of the areas.

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WINES

WHITES
Those made with traditional grapes (macabeo, parellada and xarel-lo) are light, fruity, fresh wines with good acidity levels. On the other hand, there are the chardonnays, both in their young and barrel-fermented versions, which have a good varietal character following a Mediterranean interpretation of the grape variety.
ROSÉS
Made with ull de llebre (tempranillo), merlot or cabernet sauvignon. These wines are pinkish in color, with a good fruit character, fresh and characterized by the personality of the variety used.
RED WINE
These are wines of Mediterranean character, single-varietal or the result of the blending of native and foreign grape varieties. In general they are warm, with good aromatic power and ripe fruit character. Some may develop balsamic aromas and, in the mouth, they are characterized by their warmth and flavor.
