SituaTION

It comprises all the municipalities within the provinces of Cáceres and Badajoz, made up of six different wine regions. In December 1990, the regional government approved the regulations submitted by the Comisión Interprofesional de Vinos de la Tierra de Extremadura, and approved its creation. The varieties used for the production of white wines are alarije, borba, cayetana blanca, chardonnay, chelva, malvar, viura, parellada, Pedro Ximénez and verdejo; for red wines, they have bobal, mazuela, monastrell,tempranillo, garnacha, graciano, merlot, syrah and cabernet sauvignon.
