Altitude: Average altitude of 1,900 meters above sea level.
PREDOMINANT VARIETIES
Reds: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo and Malbec.
Whites: semillon.
CLIMATE AND SOILS
Guanajuato's climatic conditions are marked by several factors. The greater or lesser proximity to the sea, the influence of polar winds or the influence of the Sierra Madre mountain system are factors that define the type of climate in each zone. Thus, although three types of climate coexist in the state depending on its proximity to the mountains, the grape production zone is sheltered under a temperate climate, with temperatures of around 18ÂșC and rainfall that generally arrives in the summer months. The Guanajuato vineyard has sandy-loam soils.
PRODUCING ZONES
The municipalities of Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel de Allende are responsible for wine production in the area, with about 20 hectares of cultivated vineyards.
