Maturana blanca

This is the oldest variety known in writing in Rioja, as it is mentioned as early as 1622. It is quite fertile, with small clusters and small berries. It has also proved to be precocious at all stages of development. It has the disadvantage of being highly sensitive to botrytis.

Although very minority, and as such with few examples of single-varietal wines, it has a high qualitative value as its wines are very suitable for long ageing due to their low pH and good structure and maturity. They are wines with great ageing potential. We are convinced that in the coming years we will see more and more wines with this variety at the highest levels within the DOCa Rioja.
