Talking wine with... Jorge Monje

29 October 2021

The classics never fail, your trusted wine?

Juan Gil, they never fail.

A tapa (or dish) that represents you?

A good Manchego ratatouille with quail's egg or cuttlefish meatballs from my mother's hometown, Ayamonte.

Here we are very much into bars, what is your favourite bar?

My brother Álvaro's bar: El Perro Flaco. Good food, unbeatable service and human quality.

Who would you dream of having a drink with? Dead or alive...

Meryl Streep or Marcello Mastroianni.

Song of the year?

Any of Enrique Morente's album Omega. It's not a recent one but it's still one of my favourite albums.

And the film of your life?

As a child I was a fan of The Goonies. As an adult I could choose from many: Fellini's La Strada, Wim Wenders' Paris Texas or Paul Thomas Anderson's There will be Blood.

What are we toasting to today?

To equality and respect for what is different from you.
