Ribera Baja. In the south of the province, it is the most important area in terms of vineyard extension (4,600 ha.). It is made up of 14 municipalities.
CLIMATE

SOILS
The diversity of the different zones is also reflected in the soils. Reddish or yellowish and gravelly in the Lower Mountains, brownish limestone and limestone in Valdizarbe and Tierra Estella, limestone and alluvial loams in the Ribera Alta, and brownish, grey sub-desert, brownish-limestone and alluvial soils in the Ribera Baja.
VARIETIES

Reds: cabernet sauvignon, red garnacha (majority), graciano, mazuelo, merlot, tempranillo, syrah and pinot noir.
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WINES
WHITES
Young and barrel-fermented whites are produced. The latter, mainly based on chardonnay, are golden in color, with creamy and toasted aromas well combined with the fruity character of the variety. The sweet, small-grain Muscat-based wines have honeyed aromas and are fresh, tasty and complex in the mouth.
ROSÉS
Mostly made from Grenache, but there are also examples made from Tempranillo or Cabernet Sauvignon. The most typical are those with an intense raspberry-pink color, very fresh, fruity, with a great red fruit character; in the mouth, balanced, tasty and fruity. In addition, more and more pale pink rosés are being produced, less exuberant than the first ones, but also with a characteristic freshness and acidity.
REDS
It is determined by the variety and the place where the vineyard is located. In the north the wines (mainly Tempranillo) will be fresher and more sour, while in the south (Garnacha) the fruit is riper and smoother in the mouth, with well-defined balsamic and varietal nuances.
