SITUATION

On the island of Tenerife. It constitutes practically an extension of the region of the Orotava Valley towards the southeast, forming a valley open to the sea with an area, Las Dehesas, located above the mountain and limited by pine forests, where the vineyard grows almost in an alpine environment. It includes the municipalities of Arafo, Candelaria and Güímar.

CLIMATE

Although the influence of the trade winds is more marked than in Abona, it is worth mentioning the important differences in altitude in a very reduced space, which gives rise to diverse microclimates, and the marked thermal contrasts between day and night, which delays the grape harvest until the first of November.

SOILS

Volcanic type in the heights. Crossing the area there is a black tongue of lava, where the vines are cultivated in a hostile terrain, with wooden stakes to lift the long shoots.

VARIETIES

White: güal, listán blanco, malvasía, moscatel, verdello and vijariego.

Reds: Bastardo negro, listán negro, malvasía tinta, moscatel negro, negramoll, vijariego negro, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinot noir, ruby cabernet, syrah and tempranillo.

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WINES

WHITES
This is the most characteristic product of the area. Made with white listan, the best are distinguished by their expressiveness, finesse and complexity. They are pale yellow in color; on the nose they have delicate floral and fruity aromas; and in the mouth they are complex, tasty and persistent.

RED WINE
In the overall production, they have a minority character. The most characteristic ones are made with listán negro, alternating in their composition with other varieties such as merlot, syrah or tempranillo. They are garnet cherry colored, usually fruity and with wild nuances; in the mouth, dry, fruity and light.
