XXII Top Wines from Spain Tasting Showroom

After the success of its 21st edition, the Top Wines from Spain tasting showroom will hold a record edition in 2022: more than 400 Spanish wineries will present the 2,500 best wines produced in our country.

Top Wines from Spain tasting showroom, which will take place on 28th and 29th November at IFEMA MADRID, is the key event of the sector and the national and international benchmark where all oenological projects have a place.

Soon, we will publish more information about the event and the list of participating wineries.

Sommelier and journalist Silvia Culell inaugurated the Tasting Room with the seminar "D.O. Cava: the new era of excellence towards sustainability". This activity presented the history and elaborations of this appellation of origin, a benchmark for sparkling wines in Spain through its best cavas.

Campo de Borja wines returned, once again, to the Top Wines from Spain showroom. José Ignacio Gracia, secretary of the D.O., conducted the tasting "Garnachas históricas project", showcasing nine references that demostrated the personality, quality and complexity of the wines made from Garnacha, the main variety of the appellation.

Spanish Wine Academy is a project of Bodegas Ramón Bilbao that seeks to bring the world of Spanish wine closer to professionals and amateurs. Spain's diversity as a winemaking country and its main wine regions was the title of the tasting given by 10 winemakers who presented 10 wines traveling through 10 landscapes to learn about the diversity of Spain as a winemaking country.

Ribeira Sacra was in charge of closing the program on the first day of activities at the Top Wines from Spain showroom with a tasting entitled "Expresión de la Viticultura heroica" (Expression of heroic viticulture). In it, the renowned winemaker Mª Isabel Mijares together with the president of the D.O., José Manuel Rodríguez González, presented to the attendees a selection of eight wines from this production area.

The tasting program of this edition ended with the wines of the D.O. Somontano. The session, entitled Somontano: wines with personality in the foothills of the mountains, was held by Óscar Torres Angosto, Technical Director of the Regulatory Council. He presented the most representative references of this well-known appellation.

We kicked off the second day with a tasting of three vintages of Kripta, the most famous wine from the Agustí Torelló Mata winery. Led by Alex Torelló Sibill, owner and winemaker, attendees  were able to discover the history of the wine, which they define as "his masterpiece". A tribute to the land, to the three unique vineyards from which Kripta was born and to the history of its author.
